"Plique à Jour" is a French term that means "letting in daylight". The term refers to the jewelry technique in which enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing. This allows light to shine through the transparent or translucent enamel, forming a beautiful stained glass appearance.

This incredible and colorful French pendant is a wonderful example of Plique à Jour jewelry! Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the surface of this disc-shaped pendant is decorated with intricate plique-à-jour enameling. Both the front and back of the pendant feature a "mandala" design, which incorporates rich shades of blue, red, and green. The pendant also resembles a stained glass window, and looks breathtaking when viewed in natural light. Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the plique-à-jour enameling. The complementary bail is secure and in working order.
